I bought my Prius some years back and was rudely confronted with NO TAX CREDIT because I happen to fall under AMT. I am middle class.
I would be the PERFECT candidate to buy a Chevy Volt but if I can’t get any tax credit then I won’t buy one especially since the price of the volt will probably be raised to factor in the tax credit.

Thanks Allen for the detailed comment. I completely agree with you. For now Hybrids in many ways are not worth it… as much as I hate to admit it.

If Obama is serious then put a real goal for a real figure out there. Try 100% tax deduction over 5 years, no sales tax and 100% of the interest on the loan for every car that is a hybrid but the gas or diesel engine must get 100 miles per gallon when in use. The vehicle must be under 100,000 USD and produced in the USA. My bet is that this vehicle would be in production with in a year. The next generation will have 60 volt generator systems , 240 transformer that hold 5,000 watts, carbon fiber ceramic wheels, rotors, electric water pumps, electric oil pumps and nitrogen filled bumpers, and tires. The prize will be computerized acceleration with inf-red sensors to control traffic distances. I jsut hope someone lets me build one for the public.
